Colosafe Instruction for Usage

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSERTION:

Caution: Always wash hands thoroughly before and after touching the device. For the first time use, Doctor or health care professional should perform a digital exam through the stoma to evaluate Suitability for insertion of the device.
Use the sizing catheter to detirme the proper size of Device
1. For insertion of the device the patient can be sitting or lying down whichever is more comfortable.
2. Fill the syringe with tap water. Connect the syringe to the blue check valve by turning it to the right to tighten. Inject the appropriate amount of CC depending on the Colosafe size. Remove the syringe by turning it to the left and detaching it. Apply lubricating gel to the flange tube and insert it gently through the Stoma. Make sure the device is inserted all the way.
3. Fill the syringe with tap water. Connect the syringe to the clear check valve by turning it to the right to tighten. Inject 20ccs. Remove the syringe by turning to the left and then detaching it. Pull gently on the flange to check that the device is securely positioned. If It is not secure then inject a few more ccs (5ccs) of water at a time until it feels firmly attached to the stoma. The maximum amount of water should not exceed 30 cc.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR EMPTYING THE COLON CONTENT:

Note: Only connect the syringe to the blue check valve to empty the colon content. The blue check valve is used mainly to control the flow of fecal material through The stoma, When patient is ready to empty the Colon content, adhere to the following Steps:
1. Align the bag on the flange and push gently, twist to the right to secure the bag on the flange.
2. Insert an empty syringe through the blue check valve turning to the right and withdraw all the water content. This allows you to empty the colon’s content into the bag. Remove the syringe by turning to the left and then detaching it When there is no more content coming through insert the same water filled syringe to the blue check valve then turn it to the right and empty the syringe. Remove the empty syringe by turning it to the left and then detaching it. .
3. You may now remove the bag by twisting to the left and detaching it from the flange gently. Put the cover on the bag then dispose of it according to your local health protocol. Clean the skin around the flange and gently tap on to dry it. .
4. To eliminate gas: attach the bag on the flange as instructed above. Attach an empty syringe to the blue check valve by turning the syringe to the right and withdraw 5 cc of water. When all gas is released use the same water filled syringe, and reinject the 5 cc of water. Remove the syringe by turning to the left and then detaching it. Remove the Bag by pulling it out gently put the cover on the bag as instructed above.

TO REMOVE THE DEVICE:

Insert an empty syringe through the clear check valve turn it to the right and pull back on the plunger to withdraw all water content empty. Remove the syringe by turning it to the left and then detach it. Gently remove the device. Dispose of it according to local health protocol.
